Nash Campbell focuses his practice primarily on education law and representing public school boards. With experience successfully arguing before the Eleventh Circuit Court and before the Supreme Court of Alabama, Nash is an experienced litigator who aims to be hands-on with his clients at every stage of a matter.

Nash’s experience includes litigating school law issues, including school employment issues, contractual issues and personal injury issues relating to incidents occurring on school campuses.

Relevant Experience:
  • Assisted in the separation of city school systems from county school systems in Alabama.
  • Aided in the counseling of cities interested in forming a school system.
  • Retained as counsel for an Alabama public charter school organization, which operates the state’s first charter school. Assisted in drafting policies and aiding in charter compliance, and currently helping to expand the school to accommodate middle school students.
  • Retained to help create Alabama’s first conversion charter schools by representing an educational foundation.

Nash attends school board meetings and acts as the chief litigator on behalf of school boards throughout south Alabama. He also works with boards of education and individual schools, consulting them and their personnel daily and providing litigation services when needed.

As Alabama’s education system experiences change, Nash is helping to establish charter schools. Additionally, he assists school systems with the separation from larger ones, helping them to develop their own structures and governance. Nash also represents the Alabama Trust for Boards of Education, which provides liability coverage to public school boards in the state.

Adams & Reese lawyers advise K-12 schools (both public and charter) as well as colleges and universities, addressing the full range of issues facing these institutions, including student discipline, discrimination claims, desegregation plans, employment disputes, employee benefits and compensation, and issues related to athletics programs.

We also advise on business law matters unique to the education sector, including public bidding, bond issues and finance. And when our clients face disputes not resolved with mediation, we bring our deep experience conducting adversarial hearings before administrative bodies and school boards, as well as trying lawsuits in federal and state courts, to advocate effectively on their behalf.

For more than 40 years, members of our Education team have tackled the thorniest issues facing educational institutions, including defending school districts and other public entities in civil rights actions and handling unitary status hearings in federal desegregation cases to remove school districts from court supervision. Our lawyers have argued cases before Circuit Courts of Appeals and have taken education cases to the United States Supreme Court.

Our education law attorneys hold leadership positions in national, state, and local organizations in the education field and speak on issues of school administration and education law to audiences throughout the United States.
