Allison “Ali” Tomberlin has vast experience in a broad range of civil and business matters, but her primary area of practice is education law. Before joining Beechler Tomberlin, Ali served as General Counsel to one of the largest school districts in North Carolina. Since joining Beechler Tomberlin, she has represented a wide range of stakeholders in all areas of the education sector. These experiences make her uniquely qualified to guide clients facing complex legal and operational issues. She regularly provides outside and general counsel services to school districts, charter schools, and private schools by representing elected school board members, superintendents, school-based administrators, parents, teachers, coaches, and students. Ali also provides counsel in matters involving institutions of higher education, representing students, faculty, and staff in both administrative, academic, and athletic disputes.

Her education law practice includes representation for special education cases, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Section 504, Title IX, budgeting and finance, human resources, student assignment, truancy, constitutional issues, and student discipline.  Ali provides practical, timely, and comprehensive legal guidance to education clients facing both routine and high-stakes challenges.

Ali is just as comfortable in a courtroom as she is drafting corporate contracts, and she has successfully litigated cases involving government entities as well as Fortune 500 companies. Ali is a highly sought after speaker and presenter, and enjoys delivering quality, tailored trainings to boards and employers. Ali can also assist your institution as an impartial investigator and hearing officer, particularly for human resources matters, Title IX issues, and Section 504 disputes.

Ali has been practicing law in Winston-Salem since 2007. She worked in private practice and in the public sector before joining Beechler Tomberlin, PLLC, to work with her husband, Chris Beechler, in 2016. Since then, Ali and Chris regularly work together on matters related to Title IX allegations, employee concerns, and cases involving criminal accusations in an education setting.
